US developing record of what happened in Artsakh

The United States is developing a “comprehensive, thorough and transparent” record of what happened in Nagorno-Karabakh, James O’Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, said at a congressional hearing on Nagorno-Karabakh on Wednesday.
O’Brien stressed that the US has commissioned independent investigators and has its own investigators working in the field, as well as information available from international NGOs and other investigators. He did not specify the dates but said that when the report is ready, the results will be openly presented.
He noted that forcibly displaced persons should have access to that region if they want.
“As a result of Azerbaijan’s unacceptable military action over 100,000 ethnic Armenians have fled Nagorno-Karabakh, resettling in Armenia and leaving their personal belongings and their livelihoods behind them.
I strongly believe we must provide humanitarian and economic assistance to displaced people in Armenia and ensure accountability for any potential crimes committed against those fleeing Nagorno-Karabakh or those who are choosing to remain there,” he said.
