US-EU crisis is caused by Trump’s wish to make Europe dependent on America – Vladimir Kornilov
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Vladimir Kornilov commented on the crisis in relations between the European Union and the United States.
According to the expert, US President Donald Trump wants to make Europe more dependent on Washington.
“The crisis between Donald Trump and the European Union is caused by Trump’s wish to make Europe more dependent on the United States and make it pay for all the services that America had previously provided as the EU’s patron. That is, there is a large-scale, comprehensive approach that underlies the Make America Great Again (MAGA) ideology that Trump and his supporters proclaimed during the election campaign,” Kornilov said.
According to the political scientist, Trump said he wanted to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine from the very beginning, and Europe is now trying to hinder the peace process.
“From the very beginning, during his campaign, Trump honestly and openly proved that America bears the main burden of maintaining this war that no one in the West needs, and initially warned Europe that if it wants this conflict to continue, then it should pay for all these ‘wishes’ of Zelensky and the Kiev regime. Therefore, I am now surprised that for many people in Europe, in the West, Trump’s statements have become a sensation. He initially said directly that he wants to put an end to this conflict. He is doing what he can at this stage, fulfilling his election promise. But Europe is really trying to hinder the peace process,” Kornilov concluded.
