International law is not any kind of guarantee if someone wants to start military actions or take aggressive steps, said Hayk Khalatyan, chief editor of Alpha News’ Moscow office.

“It’s about having good allies and a strong army. Only then can international law be effective. But if you rely solely on international law and the promises of other states in exchange for your own concessions, that will not provide any guarantees. We saw that Iran avoided harsh responses for a long time and tried to be constructive in every way, but this led it into war,” Khalatyan said.

According to him, Israel is seeking to neutralize its main, one could say its only real, opponent in the region.

“Israel is doing this not with its own hands, but by involving the United States in military actions. And even Trump’s allies say that in fact it turns out like this: the US in the Middle East is guided not by its own interests, but by the interests of Israel,” Khalatyan emphasized.
