US State Department: Any violation of Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will have serious consequences

The US Department of State has reaffirmed its strong support for Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, responding to the Voice of America Armenian Service’s inquiry regarding the Lemkin Institute’s Red Flag Alert about Armenia and Azerbaijan.

On Tuesday, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention issued a Red Flag Alert, expressing deep concern about the alarming potential for Azerbaijan’s invasion of Armenia in the coming days and weeks.

Responding to the Voice of America, the US Department of State stressed that any violation of Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would have serious consequences.

“The United States strongly supports Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We emphasize that any violation of that sovereignty and territorial integrity will have serious consequences. We reiterate our calls against the use of force and continuously monitor the situation.

Armenia is a close partner and friend of the United States. We look forward to working with the Armenian authorities to strengthen the country’s political and economic security,” the US State Department said in a statement.
