Vagif Khachatryan, abducted by the Azerbaijani board guards on July 29 while being transported to Armenia through the mediation of the Red Cross, will stand trial in Azerbaijan. According to the Azerbaijani mass media, Emil Taghiev, the head of the special investigation department of the Azerbaijan Military Prosecutor’s office, announced this, without giving details.
Recall that on July 29, Azerbaijani board guards kidnapped Vagif Khachatryan, 68, from the illegal checkpoint on the Hakari bridge. Khachatryan’s family members stated that they had no news from him. According to his daughter Vera Khachatryan, they only knew that their father was in one of the hospitals in Baku. The Supreme Court of Azerbaijan announced that Khachatryan was arrested. He was accused of allegedly “creating a criminal group and committing crimes against residents of the village of Meshali, Khojaly region, on December 21, 1991”.
