The trial of Vagif Khachatryan, who was abducted by Azerbaijan at the Lachin corridor this summer, has started today in Baku. His case is presided over by Judge Jamal Ramazanov.
To remind, on July 29, the Azerbaijani border service abducted Vagif Khachatryan, 68, from the Azerbaijani checkpoint illegally located at the Berdzor corridor. He was being transported from Artsakh to Armenia to undergo treatment through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan stated that “he was charged back in 2013” and a decision was made to arrest him.
Baku accused him of “genocide and deportation of Azerbaijanis.”
In a letter sent from Baku to his family, Khachatryan wrote: “I’m thinking about you, I’m still alive, stay well.”
