Washington intends to assist Yerevan in improving the management of the security sector. U.S. Embassy in Armenia

Appointed as the representative of the US Army in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, Washington intends to assist Yerevan in improving the management of the security sector, which, in turn, will contribute to strengthening Armenian-American relations.

In response to the request””Armenpress” was informed about this from the US Embassy in Armenia, specifying that the choice of a civilian adviser has already been made and he will start working this year.

“The US State Department’s global defense reform program around the world helps partner states to create more sustainable, effective and accountable security institutions by providing advisory support at the strategic level,” the embassy noted, referring to the statement made by US Deputy Secretary of State Ezra Zei a few days ago that a representative of the American army would work in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

Regarding the question of what functions in the Armenian Ministry of Defense will be assigned to the representative of the US Army, the embassy said:

“The civilian consultant is not funded by the US Army or the Ministry of Defense. The funding is provided by the State Department, and the consultant will assist in strengthening Armenia’s defense institutions. The consultant will work in Armenia, having regular working contacts with the Embassy and the Ministry of Defense””

The Embassy also added that through advisory support, the United States intends to assist Armenia in improving the management of the security sector, which, in turn, will contribute to strengthening Armenian-American relations.
