Atom Egoyan and Federico Lemos’ film ‘We are Our Mountains’ was chosen as Best Documentary by the public vote at the 16th Pomegranate International Film Festival at the National Theatre in Toronto, Canada.
After receiving the award, Uruguayan film director Federico Lemos addressed the audience as a special guest, condemned Azerbaijan’s invasion of Artsakh, and demanded to be consistent and protect the rights of more than 100 thousand Artsakh people.
The program of the festival featured 68 films from 14 countries.
It should be noted that ‘We are Our Mountains’ was the only Latin American film that was presented at the prestigious film festival.
“When describing the 16th Pomegranate Film Festival, we are reluctant to use the word ‘sweet’ because of recent events. However, what we can do is offer 68 memorable films to help raise funds and raise awareness about refugees who were forcibly expelled from their sacred land in Artsakh,” the organizers of the festival said.
