‘We don’t need compensation, we are not selling our land’: Kirants resident

Residents of the Tavush village of Kirants, whose houses will come under Azerbaijan’s control, came to the village administration this morning. Outraged by the Armenian government’s decision, they say that they do not need compensation.

“I was born and raised in Kirants. There have never been Turks. We have all the documents. How did we get these documents if this land is said to be Turkish? This is our Armenian land. In our village, we don’t have any territories that belong to Turks. This is our territory. I will sell neither my house nor my land. We don’t need compensation, we are not for sale!” said one of the residents.
