‘We have nothing to say so far’: US State Department on signing strategic partnership deal with Armenia

The US State Department said there is nothing to announce or consider at this moment regarding the signing of a strategic partnership deal with Armenia, Armenpress reports.

The State Department responded to a query by the Voice of America’s Armenian service, which asked whether a meeting between Armenian and US officials is planned in the near future to move bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership and what documents could be signed between Washington and Yerevan.

At a press conference in Yerevan, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan talked about “moving the relations with the US to the level of strategic partnership”, the upcoming official bilateral meeting for this purpose, and the expected document.

“Our relations already have a strategic nature, and we have a strategic dialogue, which we have agreed to raise to the level of strategic partnership. A meeting between the Armenian and US officials is being discussed and planned.”
