Residents of Spitak expressed concern during a recent survey about the Armenian government’s campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church. Participants in the survey viewed this campaign as unacceptable.

“An attack on the Church is the same as an attack on the people,” said one respondent.

“We live in an era when people have distanced themselves from faith, from God. Until the Armenian people kneel and return to faith, there will never be peace,” noted another respondent.

According to one resident, the Church has nothing to do with politics: “The Armenian Apostolic Church is one of the founders, one of the pillars of the Armenian nation.”

“Leaders come and go. We must believe, preserve our faith, and protect it,” said another respondent.
