Weightlifter Hripsime Khurshudyan announces retirement after taking bronze at 2024 European Championships

Armenia’s Hripsime Khurshudyan took bronze at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Khurshudyan lifted a total of 227 kg (105+122). After the last attempt, the 36-year-old announced her retirement. She took off her sneakers, kissed the barbell, and thanked the fans with tears in her eyes.

Hripsime Khurshudyan is the 2007 European champion, the 2006 European silver medalist, and the 2023 and 2024 European bronze medalist.
