We’ll see whether judge has courage to resist political pressure – Narek Karapetyan

The entire process is political, said Narek Karapetyan, nephew of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, during a conversation with journalists outside Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court on August 14.

“Since this is not a legal process but rather a political one, expectations cannot be framed within any logical boundaries. It’s entirely political. Eventually, we will understand whether the judge has the courage to resist political pressure,” he said.

According to him, all of this is a move against a person’s views.

“All the searches have been declared illegal, the arrest has been declared illegal. There is no justification for keeping him in detention. You have seen the decision of the court of appeal as well, but since the overall process lacks any legal logic, we cannot confidently say that the issue will have any legal resolution. More than anything, this is a political move against a person’s views,” Karapetyan concluded.
