GFN.AM, NVIDIA’s exclusive partner in Armenia for providing cloud gaming services, published its analytics results for the first half of 2025. The latest data reveals popular genres, favorite titles among the local audience, how much time players spend in virtual worlds, and how cloud technologies are advancing the Armenian gaming market.

Shooters are the most popular game genre for Armenian gamers, accounting for nearly half of all gaming time. Meanwhile, 45% of players opt for competitive online shooters. Two undisputed hits, Counter-Strike 2 and Fortnite, account for 30% of players and generate approximately half of the total gaming time spent on shooters. Call of Duty: Warzone rounds out the top three, and these three titles together account for 44% of all gaming sessions in the country.

In general, an Armenian player’s typical shooter game session lasts about 35-40 minutes, indicating a preference for short, dynamic gaming sessions.

Armenian gamers are also enthusiastic about virtual driving. Car games account for about 16% of all gaming sessions. Meanwhile, around 70% of fans of the genre opt for fast-paced arcade racing games like Forza Horizon 5 and Asphalt 9. The rest prefer more leisurely simulators, such as Euro Truck Simulator 2 and BeamNG.drive.

Rocket League deserves a special mention. Soccer battles in cars accounted for nearly 30 percent of the total time spent playing motorsports games.

27% of gamers prefer action RPGs and open worlds. Genshin Impact, Cyberpunk 2077, and Black Myth: Wukong are key titles in the genre. Players spend significantly more time in these games: the average Cyberpunk session exceeds 63 minutes, and the longest continuous session is close to six hours.

The popularity of Black Myth and Cyberpunk 2077 confirms that gamers are eager to try high-profile, AAA-release games in the cloud. Approximately 12% of the audience has launched at least one of these games. The cloud format enables instant access to games and eliminates the need to worry about hardware requirements. “The advantage of GFN.AM is that we have invested in this expensive hardware, not the gamer. All gamers have to do is subscribe to our service. It’s similar to car sharing. Someone has invested in cars, and customers drive them on a subscription basis,” says GFN.AM CEO Karen Margaryan.

The trend of games with anime aesthetics and gacha mechanics, in which players spend in-game currency on random rewards, has reached Armenia. Genshin Impact, an open-world game with vivid stylization, boasts one of the largest gaming communities in the world. Now, Armenian players are joining in, too. 8% of local gamers play it, and it accounts for 10% of all gaming time in the country. Other games in this genre are also gradually gaining an audience: Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves.

Dota 2 is the most addictive game for Armenian gamers. Although it accounts for only 2% of players in the top 20, Dota 2 boasts record engagement. The average session lasts 72.5 minutes, and the total playing time is inferior only to Counter-Strike 2.

While most Armenian gamers still prefer desktop PCs and laptops, the cloud is gradually bringing their favorite titles to mobile screens. Currently, about 8% of users launch games directly on their smartphones and tablets. Popular titles include Fortnite, Forza Horizon 5, Counter-Strike 2, Black Myth: Wukong, and Genshin Impact. GFN.AM is also in high demand among Apple device owners, accounting for 22% of all sessions.

In terms of geography, Yerevan is the expected leader, while Shirak and Armavir are the most active regions.

According to a Precedent Research study, experts predict that the cloud gaming market will grow rapidly in the coming years. The number of paying players worldwide is expected to reach 86.9 million by the end of this year, with these players spending a total of $3.3 billion in the market. Thanks to investments from GFN.AM and its cooperation with NVIDIA, the world’s largest cloud gaming provider, Armenia has every chance of becoming a central player in the region for cloud gaming solutions. GFN.AM is currently available in Armenia, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Moldova.

According to the CEO of GFN.AM, cloud gaming is growing at a rate of 52% annually. In five years, one out of every ten people on the planet will be a cloud gamer. Karen Margaryan adds, “GFN.AM plays a unique role as a driving force in the development of cloud gaming in post-Soviet countries.”

Interest in cloud gaming is naturally growing in Armenia. While almost everyone has fast internet, not everyone can afford a powerful gaming PC. GFN.AM, powered by NVIDIA GeForce NOW technology, solves this problem. Games run on powerful remote servers, and only the rendered image is streamed to users. All you need is a laptop or smartphone to play the most demanding games at maximum settings.
