What is happening against Armenian Apostolic Church is crime against entire Armenian nation – Levon Chidilyan

The developments surrounding the Armenian Apostolic Church represent yet another disaster for the Armenian nation, Georgian-Armenian public and cultural figure Levon Chidilyan told Alpha News.

“The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church is the institution that unites Armenians all over the world. It is our national backbone, and now, under the guise of reforms, attempts are being made to destroy it,” Chidilyan said.

He emphasized that any problems within the Church must be resolved strictly in accordance with its statute, not through public uproar.

“This can have very dangerous consequences,” he added.

According to Chidilyan, the current situation may lead to a split within communities, when being “in different camps, a brother may stand against a brother.” He considers any involvement in campaigns against the Armenian Apostolic Church unacceptable, regardless of who the person may be.

“Whoever it may be, if someone speaks out against the Church and Holy Etchmiadzin, they are a traitor and an unacceptable person. Even if it were my own brother, such a step against the sacred must be condemned,” Chidilyan said.
