Why are armed police officers present? Tense situation during regulatory body’s meeting on ENA case

The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) continues discussions on revoking the electricity distribution license of CJSC “Electric Networks of Armenia”, owned by the Tashir Group.

The session is unfolding in a tense atmosphere. During the discussion, former acting CEO David Ghazinyan asked PSRC Chairman Mesrop Mesropyan why police officers with firearms were present in the hall, and whether commission members perceived any danger.

“Police officers are also citizens of the Republic of Armenia and may attend an open session,” replied Mesropyan, stressing that the decision rests with them.

Nevertheless, Mesropyan requested that the police officers leave the hall.
