Work is underway to prepare study for Armenian NPP’s life extension until 2041 – Movses Vardanyan

Work is underway to prepare a feasibility study for extending the operation life of the Armenian NPP until 2041, Movses Vardanyan, Director of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC, said during the seminar “Rosatom’s Proposal on NPP Construction in Armenia and Involvement of Local Industry in the Project”.
According to him, after the implementation of the current programs, the NPP operation term can be extended until 2036.
Vardanyan explained that the Russian proposal on the construction of the new NPP includes 11 volumes with a feasibility study. He added that taking into account the adopted master plan of the site for the new nuclear power plant, it will be possible to build 2 new generation units with a capacity of 1,200 MW.
