Earlier today, residents of Kasakh village attempted to block the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway, but police intervened to prevent them. The protesters demand the return of Route No. 59, which connects Kasakh to Yerevan.
“The whole of Armenia is boycotting the 150-dram fare in Yerevan, yet today we are being forced to pay 700 drams. For 30-40 years, we had a route to the city, and now they have decided to remove it. We demand that the previous fare remain unchanged, nothing more,” one of the protesters told journalists.
As previously reported, on April 9, residents of Proshyan and Kasakh villages met with government officials to discuss transportation issues affecting their communities. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Head of the Transportation Department of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, as well as a representative from the Municipality.
