Speaking with Alpha News, Russian MP Vitaly Milonov commented on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that to achieve final reconciliation with Baku, Yerevan must change the constitution and agree to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group.

“I do not understand how one side can set conditions for the other side. If a person wants to conclude a peace agreement, they conclude it. But in this format, it’s some kind of a set of cavils. We should also understand that Yerevan is putting itself in the most disadvantageous position by refusing to allow Russia to be a partner in the negotiation process. The Armenian prime minister excluded Russia from this process. Now we see that Armenia is independently refusing assistance and cooperation from Russia. Russia was difficult and inconvenient as a partner, but now we will see how effective the independent path will be,” Milonov said.

According to the MP, Azerbaijan will continue to put forward even more conditions.

“I believe this is not Azerbaijan’s only condition. Tomorrow there will be another condition, and the day after tomorrow another one. We know how international agreements usually happen when you reach them together with Turks. You will never be a winner there because some new circumstances will always arise. And what was talked about and what was shaken hands about six months ago will be completely cancelled. Look at another new example, Syria,” Milonov concluded.
