Armenia is ready to provide Azerbaijan with railway communications located on its territory for freight transportation to Nakhichevan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a press conference on Friday.
“We made a specific proposal to Azerbaijan, a decision that takes into account both Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s positions. We proposed that there should be rail freight transportation from western Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan and back through the territory of Armenia, through Meghri, since the restoration of the other sections of the railway with Azerbaijan (I mean in Tavush) requires large investments. But on the same principle: from Yeraskh to Meghri via Nakhichevan,” he said, adding that he hopes Baku will accept the proposal.
“Of course, freight transportation should be within the jurisdiction of our country,” Pashinyan said.
