“These are just another set of papers meant to keep the people occupied ahead of the upcoming elections,” political scientist Robert Margaryan said in an interview with Alpha News, commenting on the Armenia–US strategic partnership and the recent visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Washington.

“These new documents have no practical value and will serve only for the domestic audience,” he noted.

According to Margaryan, although the documents speak about Armenia’s sovereignty and other “good things,” their implementation mechanisms remain unclear. “There are 3–4 points written about Armenia’s interests, and even those are vague. Meanwhile, we have statements from Bayramov and Aliyev that are very clear in their demands, including on the issue of the ‘corridor,”” Margaryan said.

He added that it was no coincidence that Ararat Mirzoyan was called to Washington and documents were signed precisely at the time when tensions around Iran had reached their peak. In his view, this may be part of a broader geopolitical game in which Armenia’s authorities are trying to position themselves within a newly emerging world order—one that is still uncertain and dependent on the outcome of the Russia–Ukraine war.
