Young Armenian karateka Norik Makaryan wins prestigious tournament in Venice

From December 7 to 9, Venice hosted the Karate 1 Youth League, an international tournament organized by the World Karate Federation (WKF). Hundreds of young athletes from around the world took part in the competition, including representatives from Armenia.
The Armenian national team was represented by ten karatekas in the U14, U17, U19, and U21 age categories.
Norik Makaryan delivered the team’s only medal, claiming gold in the U14, under-40 kg division. The young karateka delivered a confident performance, successively defeating opponents from Ukraine, the USA, Italy, and Slovakia. In the final bout, Makaryan faced Mukhammetoraz Gulov from Turkmenistan and secured a convincing 4-1 victory, earning the gold medal at the prestigious event.
