Speaking with Alpha News, Russian MP Vitaly Milonov commented on the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project.

“The ‘crossroads’ can be different; this one will be like bear skins, on which tanks will drive from one country to another. In terms of benefits for Turkey, of course, this project is extremely beneficial for Pashinyan to provide the territory of Armenia for the unimpeded connection of the two countries. But I do not quite understand how this works with the sovereignty of Armenia. Why should it become a ‘crossroads’? Why become some element of the road system at all when you can be not a crossroads but a country that provides advantageous communications? Still, I think that Armenia could occupy a strategically important position in the region if it communicated correctly and provided the right connection. Armenia could become an important element of the region’s security,” Milonov said.

“Why do they say Crossroads of Peace? Because they want to demilitarize Armenia and disarm it. They want to make a spineless ‘crossroads of peace’ out of it, a country without its own opinion. Armenia has an important task to stop military and political cooperation with Moscow. Because this will really be a great help for the implementation of the Great Turan ideas. Some global forces that are currently building anti-Russian and anti-Chinese configurations are interested in Armenia becoming just a piece of land across which anyone can move,” Milonov concluded.
