Only CSTO will ensure Armenia’s security – Vladimir Dzhabarov

Only the CSTO can ensure Armenia’s security, Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chair of Russia’s Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, told NEWS. ru.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that “with every second” Yerevan is moving further away from the CSTO. According to him, if the point of no return has not yet been passed, it is very likely to happen. Back in September, Pashinyan said Yerevan had left the CSTO because of the threat the organization posed to Armenia’s sovereignty.
According to Dzhabarov, Russia hopes to resolve all disagreements with Armenia.
“I adhere to the position that our president has outlined. I just do not see who can replace, who can ensure Armenia’s security in case of an external threat, except the CSTO,” he said. Dzhabarov doubted that the US could become a good partner for Yerevan. He gave the example of Ukraine, which tried to build relations with Washington instead of Moscow.
“I hope that common sense will prevail in our relations. Russia has been and will remain the only true friend of the people of Armenia in the foreseeable future,” he concluded.
