‘We join with Armenians mourning and acknowledging all who lost their lives in Sumgait’: US Embassy

The US Embassy in Armenia has issued a statement on the 37th anniversary of the mass pogroms of Armenians in Sumgait in 1988.

“Today, we join with Armenians mourning and acknowledging all who lost their lives in Sumgait in 1988,” the embassy said in a press release.

Massacres and pogroms of the Armenian population were organized in Sumgait on February 27-29, 1988 with the connivance of the republican and central authorities.
