The Munich Higher Regional Court sentenced former Bundestag member Eduard Lintner to a nine-month suspended prison term in a bribery case involving Azerbaijan, AFP reports.
According to the investigation, in 2014, Lintner reached an agreement with MP Karin Strenz to vote in Azerbaijan’s favor at PACE in exchange for a monthly payment of €7,500.
The court also ordered the confiscation of approximately €110,000 from Strenz’s heirs, allegedly received from Lintner. He claimed that he had engaged in “normal lobbying,” but the court rejected this argument.
