Foreigners violating migration rules have one month left to legalize their status in Russia

Foreign nationals currently residing in Russia in violation of migration rules have one month left to legalize their status or leave the country. 

According to the Russian Interior Ministry, they can do it until September 10 by applying to the migration service, TASS reports.

This applies to foreign citizens and stateless persons listed in the register of controlled individuals—a category that includes those who have lost the legal grounds for staying in Russia. In mid-June, it included more than 800,000 people. The Interior Ministry noted that after September 10, 2025, it will no longer be possible to legalize their status.
