‘If talking about Artsakh hinders peace, then what is the value of that peace?’ – Meri Davtyan

“If the topic of the return of the Artsakh people is closed, then who exactly is this peace for?” Meri Davtyan, Director of the Scientific and Cultural Center of the Gandzasar Library, said in an interview with Alpha News, speaking about Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that the Karabakh issue is closed.
“If talking about Artsakh hinders peace, then what is the value of that peace? Peace is possible when everyone reconciles with each other, opens borders, and everyone can go wherever they want. If the topic of our return is closed, then who exactly is this peace for? This is a position that causes dissonance, but this is not new to us, and we cannot say we’ve come to terms with it,” she said.
When asked how she imagines a fair solution for herself and future generations, Davtyan emphasized, “We must constantly fight by all means—political, diplomatic, and military. If you want to achieve what you want, you must be ready for very serious steps, or at least have such courage. Aliyev did not come to terms with his defeat and, over the years, pursued a path of regrouping rather than begging for some kind of submissive, humiliating, conditional peace.”
