Preserving traditional Armenian family and ensuring its well-being is our key task – Samvel Karapetyan

The Defense Council of philanthropist and entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan has released his 12th message to his supporters on Facebook.

“Dear compatriots,

The ‘Our Way’ movement has set various priority goals, including the protection of spiritual values, the formation of a new economy, the rapid creation of numerous jobs, and the dynamic development of agriculture.

Preserving the traditional Armenian family and ensuring its well-being are central among these issues and will undoubtedly be addressed. There is no greater fortune for a nation and a state than to have many large families living in good conditions, with healthy, educated children who are ready to build a dignified future for their country.

Unfortunately, the number of such families in today’s Armenia is extremely low, demographic indicators are catastrophic, and we must do everything possible to escape this dangerous situation.

First and foremost, our young families must be healthy and able to care for their reproductive and overall health without draining their household budgets. The state must provide this opportunity without exception. The state must share the financial responsibility with parents for every Armenian child born, which will significantly increase birth rates.

Young families must have the opportunity to improve their housing conditions, and here too the state must play a serious role. Our young parents should also receive benefits when applying for jobs or universities.

Finally, our respected elderly citizens, representatives of the older generation, must be able to restore their health without fearing they will become a financial burden to their children. No Armenian citizen should ever be denied the ability to care for their health due to lack of funds. We already have experience in developing and implementing similar projects on a smaller scale.

The movement is actively working to find fundamental solutions to all these issues and to implement them in the very near future.
