Investigative body has set new standard of continuous lawlessness – Samvel Karapetyan’s legal team

The legal team representing philanthropist and entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan has issued a new statement.

“Without reducing the number of economically motivated charges—namely, by simply disregarding court decisions that are legally binding—the investigative body has recently set a new standard of continuous lawlessness. It has brought yet another economic charge without any supporting evidence, without even the most minimal legal or legitimate basis.

These actions defy legal logic. The undeniable fact of political persecution against Samvel Karapetyan is confirmed by a public threat made against him on social media on June 17, 2025, and by directives issued to law enforcement agencies.

At the same time, it is worth noting that even when the defense had no information regarding the motion to extend his detention, a pro-government media outlet—’citing its sources’—had already published such information.
