Armenia transfers two Syrian nationals to serve life sentences at home

On January 14, 2026, citizens of the Syrian Arab Republic, Youssef Alabet Al Haji and Muhrab Muhammad Al Shkheri, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Republic of Armenia, were transferred via the Republic of Turkey to the competent authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic to continue serving their sentences in their home country.

The transfer was carried out within the framework of cooperation between the relevant competent authorities and existing legal mechanisms.
