Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, responding during a briefing to a question about whether the Russian 102nd military base in Gyumri hinders Armenia’s relations with the West, said that so far it has not “blocked the country’s view” on the path toward cooperation with the West.
According to him, Armenia is not going anywhere.
“I have never said that Armenia is heading West. Fortunately or unfortunately, we are not yet at the stage where the Russian military base blocks our view. If we see that it does, we will think about how to move forward,” the Prime Minister said, adding that Armenia has not had and does not have the goal of worsening relations with Russia or acting against its interests.
Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia’s task is to be guided solely by its own interests.
