The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance, presided over by Judge Ani Danielyan, ruled to grant the appeal filed by the attorney of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
In accordance with the court’s ruling, the restraining measure imposed on the Catholicos of All Armenians is to be lifted. However, according to the attorney and representative of the Mother See, Ara Zohrabyan, the court’s ruling has yet to be enforced.
“I am certain that the prosecution will appeal this ruling and will do everything possible to avoid its enforcement,” Zohrabyan noted.
When asked whether the ruling to lift the restraining measure against the Supreme Patriarch could inspire hope that justice exists, the representative of the Holy See of Etchmiadzin said that hope for justice is always present.
“Unfortunately, some judges compliantly hand down rulings to please the authorities. However, there are also judges who are guided by the law, which certainly gives hope for fair justice,” Zohrabyan emphasized.
