The court hearing in the case of Samvel Karapetyan, philanthropist, businessman, and leader of the “Strong Armenia” party, has been adjourned and will continue on April 17 at 13:30. Aram Vardevanyan, Karapetyan’s lawyer, noted on the matter that the court’s approach is unacceptable and puzzling, namely, that the question of pretrial measures has been made a priority topic of discussion, yet its resolution is being postponed due to the court’s workload.

“Samvel Karapetyan also made very important points on the citizenship issue, which is arguably what the authorities were anticipating most. In some sense, I congratulate them on that front. The other question is that our society also heard Samvel Karapetyan’s words at the most recent rally, while the circumstances of this unlawful political persecution are being investigated behind closed doors,” he said.
