The Armenian army did not suffer defeat in the 44-day war in Artsakh; it was a conditioned defeat resulting from a political decision. This was stated live on Alpha News by Alen Gevondyan, the political analyst.

“The Armed Forces of Armenia and the soldiers were the most legitimate over the past 30 years according to all opinion polls. What did the current authorities need in 2018? To strip the army of its legitimacy and weaken public trust in it. Our soldier solved an extremely serious task on the ground – a task, that the armies of many superpowers would not have been able to accomplish,” Gevondyan noted.

According to him, over the past seven years, the word ‘strength’ has never been used in Nikol Pashinyan’s rhetoric.

“He always speaks about surrender and consensus and never about struggle or resistance. He insists: we must surrender, we must give things up. And the latest development is the claim that Azerbaijan is the guarantor of our security. Under these conditions, we are talking about a relationship between a sacrificial lamb and a wolf,” the political analyst concluded.
