“This is a propaganda tactic”: Vigen Akopyan on Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister’s visit
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has confirmed media reports that a delegation led by Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, is in the country. Alpha News spoke on the issue with political strategist Vigen Akopyan.
According to the expert, the visit may carry both purely political significance and a concrete agenda related to border demarcation and delimitation.
“This visit is meant to create the illusion that peace has become so established and deepened that there is nothing unusual about an Armenian delegation led by its leader traveling to Azerbaijan, or vice versa. This is a propaganda tactic that the Armenian government is trying to present to our society with the help of its Azerbaijani partners,” Akopyan said.
According to him, there are also issues related to border demarcation and delimitation that need to be resolved before the elections.
“Azerbaijan will try to extract as much as possible from this situation. In Azerbaijan itself, they clearly understand that the re-election of Nikol Pashinyan is, to put it mildly, not guaranteed. Therefore, they want to obtain everything possible within such a short period of time,” the political strategist concluded.
