Swiss artist known as Vierwind has created a large-scale art installation on the shore of Lake Sevan in Armenia. He painted the fuselage of a decommissioned Soviet passenger aircraft, the Yak-40, depicting Jesus Christ on it.
What makes this work unique is that it can only be fully appreciated from the air: from the ground, the image looks like abstract graffiti, but from above it comes together as a single unified image.
Vierwind shared that he chose Armenia for this work deliberately. According to him, the country was the first in the world to adopt Christianity as a state religion and has preserved the faith through centuries of trials. The artist was supported by Braaam Agency, a Swiss agency specializing in the organization of street, urban, and monumental art events, and curator Anna Kamay.
