Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, proposed during the Baku Energy Forum that Azerbaijan make use of Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities, the largest in Europe, with a total capacity of around 30 billion cubic meters.
Ukraine has already been integrated into the upgraded Trans-Balkan route, through which Caspian gas can be transported to energy-deficient regions of Europe.
According to Shmyhal, the first test deliveries of Azerbaijani gas have confirmed the viability of the route.
