“We are ready for post-election developments and will defend the trust placed in us”: Gohar Meloyan

Gohar Meloyan, a parliamentary candidate from the Strong Armenia bloc, claims that the authorities are frightened, which is why, two days before the elections, they intensified searches of the bloc’s offices and supporters’ homes.

“It is clear that the authorities understand that without artificial and unlawful interference they cannot succeed in the elections. The ruling party is certain that it cannot get re-elected under equal and lawful conditions. These convulsive steps are directly linked to our political force. Yesterday’s rally, attended by around 80,000 people, confirms this,” Meloyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

According to her, over the 28 days of the campaign, around 400 people were detained as a result of the searches, though only a few were remanded in custody.

Meloyan is confident that the Strong Armenia bloc will win an absolute majority in the election results.

“On June 7, the ruling party will be defeated, they will have to accept it and congratulate the winning force. If Pashinyan refuses to relinquish power, we are ready for further developments and will consistently defend the votes entrusted to us,” she added.
