The director of the chancellery of Holy Etchmiadzin and the heads of the Armenian Apostolic Church dioceses accompanied Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II to the polling station. The Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church cast his vote at the spiritual center – in Etchmiadzin.
“We made our choice with prayer and with God, so that the Lord may steadfastly protect the Armenian state, bless our people to overcome the current difficult trials, and build a strong, secure, and prosperous country,” Garegin II noted.
Robert Kocharyan, second president and leader of the “Armenia” bloc, also voted for Armenia. He rated the opposition’s chances of victory highly and emphasized that change is inevitable.
Kocharyan recalled that during his years in office, the country’s citizens did not have to think about security for ten years, all responsibility rested with the head of state. Under his leadership, Armenia knew no wars.
