The Strong Armenia party alliance has submitted a complaint to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) demanding that the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections be declared invalid.

When asked by journalists why the Strong Armenia alliance is now approaching the CEC if it intends to appeal to the Constitutional Court, Aram Vardevanyan, parliamentary candidate, noted that if the relevant complaint requesting the election results be declared invalid is not filed with the CEC, this could at the very least serve as an argument for the respondent party in the Constitutional Court the CEC to cite that circumstance.

“Ultimately, the right to declare election results invalid under the law belongs to the Central Electoral Commission. If the commission has such authority, then at the very least such a complaint must be submitted,” Vardevanyan noted.

According to him, the CEC is obligated to consider this complaint not merely in the context of the egregious violations that took place on election day, but in the context of violations that occurred throughout the entire electoral process.
