“This year we had no apricots at all. Cold weather hit during the flowering period, and the harvest was destroyed. Now we’re forced to buy at the market and resell,” one produce seller told Alpha News.

According to her, prices have risen noticeably compared to last year.

“Last year apricots cost 150-200 drams, at most 500 drams. This year a good apricot costs 1000 drams, and a very ripe one costs 500 drams. Everything is expensive, we feel it ourselves. It’s unpleasant for us to quote a price of 1000 drams, since it’s not affordable for everyone,” the Alpha News source noted.
