Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture has denied media reports that Armenian agricultural products, strawberries in particular, are being shipped to Russia through Georgian territory, Sputnik Georgia reports.
“The ministry categorically rejects the information circulated by an Armenian publication regarding the re-labeling of Armenian products’ country of origin and the importation of goods into Russian territory under the name of another neighboring country for the purpose of re-export. Such reports are speculative in nature, do not reflect reality, and could damage the economic relations between the two countries,” the statement reads.
The ministry also expressed concern over Georgia being drawn into such crude forms of political struggle taking place in a neighboring country.
