Azerbaijan is open to international cooperation on determining the fate of missing persons and has reaffirmed its readiness to work with Armenia on this issue. This was stated by Sharafat Hasanov, deputy head of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service, at a conference in Baku organized jointly with the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
According to him, citizens of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be given the opportunity to confidentially provide information about missing persons and burial sites. The system, which includes an electronic database, was developed by the ICMP.
“The information provided will be used exclusively for humanitarian purposes, and the person who provides it will not be held liable under any circumstances. The goal here is to help determine the fate of missing persons,” he said.
