Many compatriots living in the United States quite often encounter legal problems, yet they are not always aware of their rights or the legal mechanisms for resolving them. In the Alpha News studio, attorney Armen Agarakyan spoke about cases involving violations of children’s rights in American schools, the fight against bullying, and other legal issues important to the community.

In his legal practice, there have been numerous cases in which parents sought legal help over concerns about their children’s safety at school or over inappropriate conduct by teachers.

Agarakyan spoke about one high-profile case handled by his office. It involved abuse directed at children with autism. The attorney noted that his firm has pursued lawsuits against both public and independent (charter) schools, where principals and teachers engaged in unacceptable and cruel treatment of children.

“There were cases where children with autism were bullied for months and even years, their ears were pulled, they were hit on the head, and mistreated. The court found the school guilty. And we’re talking about substantial sums: compensation in such cases can reach millions of dollars,” Agarakyan noted.
