The main target of Israel’s steps is Turkey: Aram Shahnazaryan
The intensification of the issue of Israel’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide is, first and foremost, driven by the sharp deterioration in relations with Turkey. This was stated to Alpha News by Aram Shahnazaryan, an Armenian public figure from the Diaspora.
“Regional developments, in particular Iran’s strengthened position following the recent war, are also influencing Israel’s policy and forcing it to realign its positions in the region. In my view, the first and main target is Turkey,” he said.
According to Shahnazaryan, the silence of Armenia’s authorities on this issue is unsurprising, since the current government has not only removed the Armenian Genocide issue from its foreign policy agenda but is also attempting to distort its content and significance in public perception.
“These commitments certainly include not only abandoning the process of recognizing the Armenian Genocide, but also distorting its content and meaning,” he stressed.
