The ruling force is seeking to keep opposition figures and citizens with opposition views in an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, to pressure them and deprive them of freedom. This was stated by Garnik Danielyan, deputy of the “Armenia” faction, speaking with journalists outside the Investigative Committee, commenting on the situation surrounding Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party.

“The law enforcement system in Armenia no longer functions, the country does not operate as a state governed by the rule of law, and the presumption of innocence is completely absent,” Danielyan noted.

According to the deputy, what is happening around Tsarukyan is dealing a direct blow to the economy and ordinary citizens of the country.

“Gagik Tsarukyan invested enormous resources in the country’s ruined economy and agriculture, creating thousands of jobs. Today, with the operations of major enterprises halted, the economy is suffering. People are losing their jobs and are unable to pay off loans. Tomorrow, grape growers will face a serious problem with procurement,” Danielyan stressed, adding that such actions risk scaring off foreign investors.
