Russia’s policy toward Armenia is based on the principles of political realism, according to which states act based on their own interests. This was stated by political scientist Ara Poghosyan in a conversation with Alpha News.

“The policy of Armenia’s current authorities is aimed at limiting Russia’s influence in the region, and Russia is responding accordingly,” the expert said.

The political scientist emphasized that the economic sphere remains an important tool of influence for Russia. He also noted that, in his assessment, Armenia’s potential losses in the Russian market are unlikely to be fully offset by European markets in the coming years, given the particularities of logistics and market structure.
