Armenia is eager to follow Ukraine’s path: Pavel Danilin
Political scientist Pavel Danilin commented to Alpha News on the possible stripping of Armenia’s voting rights in the CSTO.
“Armenia is ignoring the CSTO and not paying its dues, which could cost it its voting rights. It will be worse for Yerevan, which is losing Moscow’s political umbrella. Pashinyan blames the CSTO for failing to defend territories that Yerevan itself never recognized as Armenian. The authorities are building a clear strategy of abandoning the bloc,” Danilin emphasized.
According to the political scientist, Turkey will become Armenia’s alternative to the CSTO.
“Pashinyan is selling Armenians the idea that Turkey will become the guarantor of security, and Azerbaijan an ally. Quarreling with Moscow, which receives 95% of Armenian exports, is a deeply mistaken approach,” the expert believes.
“Look at Ukraine: it has turned from a wealthy Soviet republic into the poorest country in Europe. Armenia is rapidly seeking to follow that same path,” the Alpha News interlocutor concluded.
