Contradictions between EU and EAEU norms will harm Armenia: Peskov

EU and EAEU norms do not correspond with each other, and these contradictions will harm Armenia itself, so Yerevan needs to make a choice, said Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the Russian President, to journalists.

“After submitting the application, Armenia will have to begin the process of bringing its legislation into line with European norms, with the norms of the European Union, in a wide range of areas: trade, sanitary, customs, and so on. These norms do not coincide with the norms adopted in our country and in the EAEU space,” Peskov said, commenting on Armenia’s submission of its application for EU membership.

Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, speaking in parliament, stated that Armenia will begin the process of submitting an application for EU membership in the future.
